Welcome to the Embassy of Ghana in The Hague, Netherlands

The Republic of Ghana and The Netherlands have retained largely uninterrupted and cordial relations since 1701 and throughout the political changes in Ghana to date. The two countries established formal diplomatic relations with resident Missions in each other’s capital after Ghana’s independence in 1957. From 1982 to 1997, Ghana closed down its Mission in The Hague due to a re-alignment exercise of Ghana’s diplomatic Missions at the time. The Mission was reopened in 1998. The Netherlands, however, had kept its Mission in Accra opened at the level of Charge d’ affaires until 1991, when it was upgraded to the Ambassadorial level.

The Embassy since its reopening has witnessed the appointment of six (6) Ambassadors in the personalities of H.E. Mrs. Brookman Amissah (1998-2000), H.E. Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Amponsah-Ababio (2001-2008), H.E. Mrs. Aanaa N. Enin (2009-2013), H.E. Dr. J. Tony Aidoo (2014-2017), H.E. Ms. Sophia Horner-Sam (2017-2020) and H.E.
